| Pamela York and Kristin Korb West Coast Tour 2006 Pianist Pamela York and bassist/vocalist Kristin Korb touring together. On September 14 this duo will perform in concert at the Mayne Island Agricultural Hall, Mayne Island, BC. Pianist Pamela York and bassist Kristin Korb met in San Diego in 1996 and have enjoyed performing together ever since. These West Coast appearances will be a rare opportunity to hear the two combining their instrumental, vocal and compositional talents. Canadian pianist Pamela York began her musical training at the age of eight in Nanaimo, BC. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and Berklee College of Music, she has studied with Ray Santisi, Diana Krall and Donald Brown. Her debut recording "Blue York" has received outstanding reviews from jazz fans and critics alike. She is also in demand as a sideman, having performed and recorded with Conte Candoli, Joe LaBarbera, and John Clayton. Bassist/vocalist Kristin Korb tours internationally as a performer, clinician, and guest artist with numerous jazz ensembles. While studying privately with jazz bass icon Ray Brown, he arranged for her first recording with his trio, Introducing Kristin Korb, on Telarc Records. Her more current releases feature her original compositions and innovative arrangements of jazz standards with the help of jazz greats Mike Wofford and Jeff Hamilton. When she's not on the road with her trio, she's on the faculty at the University of Southern California. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
