| WORLD STAGE JAZZ FESTIVAL by R.S.LaRue The World Stage was founded by late drummer Billy Higgins(world's most recorded drummer) and poet Kamau Daaood in 1989, to fill a cultural void in Los Angeles, Leimert Park area.(43rd Street and Degan Blvd.) Such world-class musicians as Max Roach, late Jackie Mc Lean and Barry Harris have performed or given master classes at the performance space. The actual festival will be held outside Sunday, August 13. This years headliner is Alto saxophonist Charles McPherson(pictured) quartet, Taumbu(an Afro-Cuban styled ensemble that can really generate some energy!), Bobby Matos Afro-Latin Jazz unit.
