| 29th Jazz in Marciac Festival The program of this year 29th Jazz In Marciac Festival (July 31st - August 15th, 2006) is very interesting. Jazzfans can choose between Galliano with his tangos from Argentina and his waltzes from Nice (6th August) and a New Orleans derby (9th August), a good old-fashioned trumpet battle between two kids who grew up in different districts of the jazz port - Terence Blanchard and Wynton Marsalis. You can feel the spirit of Chano Dominguez's flamenco piano and Brad Mehldau's inner light (2nd August). You can choose the gypsy route, travelling from Tchavolo Schmitt's Lorraine manouche to the Andalusian-Caribbean duende of Tomatito and Michel Camilo (12th). Other routes cross - Richard Bona's African path and the London streets of Jamie Cullum (7th). The Mediterranean Elisabeth Kontomanou continuing where Brussels' Wissels and Linx leave off, before the final stage of that particular journey, berthing in Toulouse, to pay tribute to the eternal Nougaro (8th). And one of the brightest stars of the festival is engmatic John Zorn (10th). write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
