| Free Blues Festival At The Empire State Plaza On Friday, July 7th and Saturday, July 8th the Empire State Plaza will be filled with the blues. The weekend kicks off Friday night with the Northeast Blues Society's Colossal Contenders Contest with special guest, Rhett Tyler and keeps on rollin' with Saturday's jam-packed festival featuring the best contemporary, traditional and acoustic blues, artist workshops and starring Chicago Blues Reunion! On Friday three local groups, Nate Mills Band, waLZ 2 waLZ, Deep Blue Shag, vie for the title of Northeast Blues Society's Colossal Contender and goes to Memphis to compete in the International Blues Challenge as well as appear at Saturday's Allstate Bluesfest. Audience picks the winner! On Saturday help us welcome Chicago Blues Reunion, the group who changed pop music with their electric blues-influenced rock.
