| Evening of Latn-Rock-Soul Innovation Entertainment Group announced an evening of Latn-Rock-Soul and Reggae music performed by three groups: Taniq, Global Groove Collective with Kwanza Jones, and Ellipsis Saturday, July 15, 2006 at Temple Bar, Santa Monica CA. Taniq is a Soul/HipHop duo with roots in the classic tradition of 'stepping' in Chicago. Their sound has been compared to The Brand New Heavies, Prince, Jill Scott and A Tribe Called Quest. They are fast becoming a fixture in the live performance venues around the country. Kwanza Jones and the Global Groove Collective provide polyphonic, polyrhythmic harmonies that display the strength and brilliance of unaccompanied voices. The songs to be performed on the evening of the festival were inspired by Kwanza's climb to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro and celebrate the richness and diversity of African, Latin and Western pop cultures. There are no words to describe the innovation in performance by this group as well as its leader. The music of Ellipsis, like that of Kwanza Jones, is both timeless and universal. Armed with the rhythmic culture of their hometown, New Orleans, the band's groove and muscle is colored with funk, reggae and rock. On their latest studio release "But A Breath, " the lead vocalist brandishes vocals that many musicians would envy. It combines raw energy and pure passion. And was a favorite among their audiences at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
