Ondrej Pivec's Organic Quartet: ’Don't Get Ideas’

Cube-Metier releases Don't Get Ideas, the debut album from Ondrej Pivec's Organic Quartet (Ondrej Pivec hammond organ; Libor Smoldas guitar; Jakub Dolezal sax; Toms Hobzek drums). In less than a year, this talented group of young Prague musicians-- Ondrej Pivec is just twenty-one--the Organic Quartet have not only bowled over both local and national critics but have been hailed as the Best Talent of the Year and Pivec himself as the Best Soloist of the Year by Philips International Jazz Festival 2005. Pivec started off in classical piano, but soon turned to jazz: before he was twenty he changed from piano to Hammond organ, and has since taken lessons from the legendary English Hammondist Mike Carr.

PWhile admiring organists such as Sam Yahel and Larry Young he has already created his own original voice. roduced by acclaimed jazz pianist Naj Ponk, this compelling disc was recorded in Prague in 2005. As Naj Ponk says, "It's quite unique to hear a really swinging modern Hammond organ combo. I'm sure this music will totally absorb you: it had us dancing in the control room during the sessions.
