Nathan Haines All Star Band in London

On Sunday 25th June, Nathan Haines All Star Band will perform at Neighbourhood in London. For this occasion he has assembled a veritable supergroup:

on keyboards, Mike Patto, the man behind Reel People (recently signed to Defected Records in the US and one of the hottest live dance acts at the Miami Winter Music Conference this year); on vocals, the UK's number one soul sister, Vanessa Freeman; on bass, "Level" Neville Malcolm from Incognito; on drums, Daniel Crosby from Jazz Warriors; on keys, Simon Colam, who plays for both Soul II Soul and Ty; Blur's percussionist, Karl Vanden Bossche; and finally, special guest singer, fellow New Zealander Tama Waipara, whose new album drops later this summer on Obliq Sounds.

For the last 15 years of his career as a saxophonist, composer and musician, Nathan Haines has been continually exploring the boundaries of modern jazz, funk and soul. After several 12"s on Metalheadz as Sci-Clone, he released two critically acclaimed albums on Chillifunk records with producer Phil Asher (who will be DJ'ing on the night): "Sound Travels" (2000) which featured the dance-floor anthem "Earth is the Place" which was re-released on Francois K's Wave label; "Squire for Hire" (2003) which featured vocals by soul jazz legend Marlena Shaw, Lyric L, Damon Albarn, Vanessa Freeman (who sang on club hit "Right by your Side") and Marcus Begg.

Nathan has also been in much demand as a session man for such luminaries as Masters at Work, Louie Vega, Da Lata, Reel People and most recently was called in to add his trademark flute and sax work to Jamiroquai's last album, "Dynamite".

Recently Nathan has been touring New Zealand promoting his latest album "Life Time" featuring the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, which beautifully highlights his jazz and vocal talents, as well as working on his new album. He also went on a sold out tour with Vanessa Freeman and Mike Patto in January this year.
