| Rafi Malkiel Quintet at Trinity Church Rafi Malkiel Quintet (Rafi Malkiel - trombone, Chris Karlic - saxophones, Alon Yavnai - piano, Dave Hertzberg - bass, Henry Cole- drums) with Bobby Sanabria (percussion) will perform at Trinity Church on Thursday June 8th. The concert will feature Jazz standards and original compositions by Malkiel all in different Latin -American rhythms and grooves. The unique sound of the Rafi Malkiel Quintet combines a variety of exotic styles and rhythms which the band members bring from their international origins and experience. Israeli born trombone and euphonium player Rafi Malkiel has been touring with top Cuban, Colombian and Puerto-Rican bands for more than ten years. Active in the New York City jazz and world music scenes, their repertoire includes original compositions by Rafi Malkiel and the members of the band as well as jazz standards arranged with Afro-Caribbean flavors. Improvising over an ecstatic groove their acoustic music is always fresh and surprising.
