Sherri Roberts at Catalina

Sherri Roberts, nationally known jazz vocalist will perform Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at Catalina Bar & Grill, Hollywood, CA. Roberts will be backed up by San Francisco pianist David Udolf, John Belzaguy on bass, Aaron Serfaty on drums, with guest Bradley Leighton on flutes. It will be a live concert performance and album launch event to celebrate the national release of Roberts' third recording, The Sky Could Send You, which recently arrived in record stores on the Blue House Recordings label, an associate label of Pacific Coast Jazz.

Drawing from a broad palette of instrumental and rhythmic colors, The Sky Could Send You features re-imagined jazz and Brazilian standards, original compositions by contemporary artists, and unexpected covers of pop tunes such as Harry Belafonte's "Jamaica Farewell." The jazz and world grooves provide a rich foundation for Roberts' liquid vocals and intimate lyric delivery. Produced and arranged by bassist Harvie S, the CD features guest performances by jazz greats including Phil Woods and Lew Soloff. The project is the third collaboration between Roberts and Harvie S, following Twilight World (1996) and Dreamsville (1998), which charted for seven weeks on the prestigious Gavin Report.

Sherri Roberts has delighted Bay Area fans for nearly two decades, and has toured to major jazz venues, both in the States and abroad. Her voice and stylistic approach frequently prompt comparisons to the "Vo-cool" jazz era.
