| Edo Castro - CD Release Show Friday, May 26th the Larkspur Cafe and Passion Star Records present an evening of music and celebration featuring songs from Edo Castro's new album, Phoenix, which follows his first successful release entitled simply Edo. Castro explains, "The name 'Phoenix' is not only a beautiful name, it's also the mythical representation of change or transformation. Phoenix is about transforming personal moments." Edo Castro is an accomplished composer who just happens to play bass. His artistry elevates the sounds from these unique, fretted and fretless multi-stringed basses into a palate from which intricate compositions flow -- beckoning the listener to embark on an amazing and moving journey. Joining Edo for this performance are: saxophonist George Brooks, tabla player Debopriyo Sarkar, guitarist Lorn Leber, drummer Paul Van Wageningen, percussionist Henry Hernandez, pedal steel guitarist Rob Powell, vertical "flutes" Blue, vocalists Deborah Winters, Lisa Star, Mark Bernfield. Opening for Edo will the fabulous Jill Knight. "Jill is one of the finest artist of her genre and it is an honor to have her open for me.
