West Oak Lane Jazz & Arts Festival

The 3rd annual West Oak Lane Jazz and Arts Festival will take place on June 23, 24, and 25, 2006 on the 7100 to 7200 blocks of Ogontz Avenue in Northwest Philadelphia. The annual festival will feature 3 days of non-stop music on 4 outdoor stages with over 400 musicians including War, Roy Ayers and Joey Defrancesco.

Also, October Gallery will present over 70 fine art artists and craft vendors, featuring Oronde Johnson, Michael Angelo Wallace and Moctar Yara. Special festival events will include a Jazz Fashion Show (Threads 'n Jazz), a Vocal Workshop (Jazz, Jam & Jelly) and Spoken Word.

"Last year's festival attracted over 100, 000 people to West Oak Lane", says Jack Kitchen, Executive Director of OARC. "We are receiving artist submissions and inquiries from Russia, China, Italy, and others attending the festival from as far away as Sweden. It's very exciting to have grown so quickly in just our third year." In addition to the '04 and '05 West Oak Lane Jazz & Arts Festival, OARC has been presenting a monthly cultural calendar of events of FREE live music and poetry in West Oak Lane since August 2004. OARC recently kicked-off the Northwest Philly Jazz & Arts Series, pre-fest events at 6 venues throughout Northwest Philadelphia which runs thru early June.
