Merrell / Block / Rossi at Freddy's

Todd Merrell will join forces with musicians Casey Block and Lou Rossi on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, in 'On the Way Out' at Freddy's Bar and Backroom, 485 Dean Street, Brooklyn, New York.

Todd Merrell creates immersive, otherworldly, musical soundscapes from electromagnetic radiation in the atmosphere and earth, using single sideband shortwave receivers and electronics. He has collaborated with Aidan Baker, Pilotram, Bunny Brains, Jeff Arnal, Craig Colorusso, Blaise Siwula, Gill Aharon, Robert Black, etc., and performed at numerous venues, including Knitting Factory, Galapagaos Art Space, and Issue Project Room. His solo album 'Neptune' was released in February 2006 on Dreamland Recordings in Australia, and his work will appear on 'Compiled Sounds Vol. 1' on Transient Frequency recordings in New York.

Casey Block has been involved in the New York music scene for several years, and has performed with Aarktica, Duane Pitre (Pilotram), Harry Rosenblum, Craig Colorusso, B. Osborne, Jay Dunbar, Gordon Beeferman, and many others. He is co-owner of Eat Records in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and presents unusual and eclectic music on his show on East Village Radio. His collaboration with Marc Gartman will be released on Transient Frequency recordings in late 2006.

Lou Rossi's work has been informed by influences as diverse as Expressionism and David Bowie. He has collaborated with Alex Marculewicz, Will di Martino, Lo Galluccio, Todd Merrell, Casey Block, and many others. Rossi received a degree in Film Scoring from Berklee and has studied Microtonal Theory with ECM recording artist Joe Maneri. He has performed solo at phOnOmena and the Front Room Gallery and most recently accompanied spoken word artist Lo Galluccio at the St. Marks' Poetry Project marathon.
