De La Soul at Toronto Jazz Festival

Hip-hop musicians De La Soul will be performing at Harbourfront Centre on Friday, June 23, 2006 as part of the TD Canada Trust Toronto Jazz Festival. Almost twenty years ago De La Soul broke out onto the hip-hop scene and created a stir with their eclectic sampling and clever rhymes. Their debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, was hailed as the future of hip-hop at the time and remains today one of the most influential works in its genre.

Widely regarded as one of the most relevant and enduring forces in hip-hop, the trio has consistently stayed true to their sound over the decades. Drawing inspiration from funk, soul, pop, jazz, reggae and psychedelia, their music has stayed fresh and everlasting, influencing a new generation of artists. Comprised of Posdnous (Kelvin Mercer), Trugoy the Dove (David Jolicoeur) and Pasemaster Mase (Vincent Mason), De La Soul is truly a creative force with their status firmly cemented as legends of hip-hop.
