Jim Brickman Teams With Savoy Label Group

SLG Records announced the signing of Jim Brickman to a long term multi project contract. The chart-topping pianist -- who has helped revive the popularity of instrumental and romantic ballads -- will release projects on his own Brickman Music Group imprint in partnership with SLG. Jim is currently recording a new album consisting of both solo piano compositions and radio-friendly vocal tracks. The album, titled "Escape, " is scheduled for release in October 2006.

The SLG partnership with Brickman reunites the artist with Savoy Label Group's Steve Vining, who presided over Windham Hill Records when Jim first began his impressive run of 5 consecutive certified gold albums. The charismatic performer quickly became known as a fresh and vibrant recording and concert artist who created and performed enormously moving solo piano compositions as well as establishing himself as an Adult Contemporary radio iconoclast. Brickman consistently scored hits with his ballads featuring guest vocalists such as Martina McBride and Collin Raye, who provided stellar vocals for chart-topping singles "Valentine" and "The Gift."

By teaming with SLG, Jim Brickman hopes to add even more synergy to the music and marketing resources that have propelled his career for two decades. Adding to his considerable success as a performer, Jim Brickman produces and promotes most of his own concert dates with industry veteran David Bucksner of Exceptional Artists. Brickman also operates Brickhouse Direct, an online marketing business that serves his fan base and helps other artists and labels reach audiences and keep in contact with their own fans. The Los Angeles resident also hosts a nationally syndicated radio show, "Your Weekend with Jim Brickman, " that is heard on over 40 stations nationally.

"My career has been guided by exciting creative partnerships and very hands-on marketing over the years, " said Brickman. "This new relationship with Steve Vining and the Savoy Label Group not only assembles a fantastic team, but opens the doors to develop exciting new musical projects."

Noted Vining, "It's gratifying to have this second chance to work with someone as gifted and committed as Jim. His standing as one of the pre-eminent adult music artists today is one we hope to significantly expand and enhance over the next few years."

Jim Brickman's remarkable career includes numerous Gold and Platinum selling albums, three #1 and twelve Top 10 Adult Contemporary radio hits, consistent debuts at #1 on Billboard Magazine's New Age chart, a Grammy nomination in 2003, SESAC "Songwriter of the Year" award, a Canadian Country Music Award for "Best Vocal/Instrumental Collaboration, " a Dove Award presented by the Gospel Music Association for "The Gift" and sold out concert tours internationally.

The Savoy Label Group (SLG) features not only the historic Savoy Jazz label but also the Denon, Denon Classics, Kin Kou and 429 Records labels. SLG is the North American unit of Columbia Music Entertainment (formerly Nippon Columbia), the oldest music company in Japan. Newly reorganized and now headed by Chairman Strauss Zelnick, Columbia Music Entertainment has re-emerged as a significant creative force with a stable of newly signed platinum-selling artists. SLG is one of the most successful marketers of adult music in the U.S. and focuses on classical, jazz, new age, world and adult alternative genres.
