| Ajamu Akinyele w/ Gemini Soul ’Live’ in Concert Ajamu Akinyele and Jon O'Bergh will be performing their eclectic blend of smooth jazz-funk fusion as Gemini Soul at a series of west coast concerts in May 2006. Ajamu Akinyele is compared to Prince, MeShell Ndegeocello, and dives into jazz similar to Miles Davis, but on bass guitar. Producer/bassist Andre Marcel Ajamu Akinyele recorded as Marcel from 1998 to 2004. As Marcel, he released five CDs ranging from Funk to World, but as Ajamu Akinyele, embarked on his first cyber jazz CD Supernova (2005). He struggled in his career as Marcel trying to find his true musical style, but now has created his own unique identity producing what he calls "Cyber Jazz-Funk Fusion, " trying to redefine jazz for a new generation. His new double CD Black Magic The Cyber Jazz Experience, (2006) is predicted to be the best independent jazz album of 2006 and captures the true essence of cyber-jazz, which is a blend of smooth jazz and funk fusion influenced by the smooth sounds of Sade, the laid back grooves of MeShell Ndegeocello, the funkiness of Prince, and the fusion of Miles Davis. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
