| A tribute to Bassist Rodney Richardson in Turlock, CA A tribute to Bassist Rodney Richardson is scheduled Thursday, 16 November 2006, at California State University-Stanislaus in Turlock, CA. The concert will feature as guests: Famed bassist James "Beans" Richardson (Rodney's 86 year old brother who has played with all the best including Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Thad Jones, Jimmy Wilkins, etc.), Vocalist Michele Richardson (Rodney's daughter) who now works with Grammy-nominated pianist Mark Little, in Modesto, CA., Michele's two (young adult) children will play bass and tuba, The university's jazz bands will perform under the direction of Coordinator of Jazz Studies, Matt Pivec, saxophonist. Matt has performed with some of the great artists of jazz and popular music including: Ray Charles, The Temptations, Peter Erskine, Maria Schneider, the Rochester Philharmonic Pops Orchestra, and the national touring companies of Hairspray, 42nd Street, and The Producers. As a band leader and soloist, Matt has performed at festivals and venues throughout the United States. Matt is also equally adept as a classical saxophonist, and worked with the Eastman Jazz Ensemble. 6.
