NOMO US Tour

The newest NOMO album, New Tones (Ubiquity Records), will be in the stores May 9. Now they are touring in support of their new album. New dates have just been added in Washington DC, Atlanta, Seattle, Chicago, Houston, Tucson, Salt Lake City, Denver & Omaha. Dates have already been confirmed in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Boston, Portland, Philadelphia & more.

NOMO were signed to Ubiquity through interest in their little-known self-titled 2004 debut, and on the back of an onslaught of persuasive emails from their fans that the band puts on a must-see live show. Raw propulsive rhythms and infectious melodies carry a horn section and multilayered percussion that is part Tom Ze, M.I.A., Philip Cohran, P-Funk, Antibalas, Tortoise and Harry Partch. Enigmatic Detroit producer Warn Defever (His Name Is Alive) was charged with capturing the band's live energy, and he shaped the sounds for maximum impact. Magnet called NOMO's debut, "party music of the first order, locking into a groove so deep you can practically feel the sweat." And Pitchfork wrote, "It's only one album, but this record places NOMO rather firmly near the head of an emerging pack of Afrobeat revival bands."
