John Klemmer Special Projects For Digital Download

Noted Smoth jazz Saxophonist & Composer John Klemmer is beggining to release "Special Project Recorings", never before heard studio recordings & live concerts both past & present, on his own "vanity" TOUCH Records Label for Digital downloading only available on iTUNES & all major Digital Music sites. John Klemmer was born & raised in Chicago. Being a Chess Records Recording Artist he was availed access to recording sessions & befriended Muddy Waters, Donny Hathaway, Phil Upchurch, Pete Cosey, Richard Evans, Minnie Riperton & Maurice White etc. expanding his knowledge of R&B, Blues & Pop music. Upon moving to Los Angeles he had his first "hit record" with the Innovative & Pioneering Jazz/Rock Fusion Recording "BLOW'IN' GOLD" including his "hit single" of "My Love Has Butterfly Wings" on Cadet Concept/Chess Records. This Song marked John's first use of & establishing his now trademark "delay" sound. His unique style of using electronic "delays" with his sax, to create an ethereal, haunting & lovely "chord like" sound, he considers his "total sound". John never use'sany electronics that would distort the true inherent beauty of the acoustic sax. Any electronics is used in "tandem" with the acoustic sax. Many call John's sound "Electrophonic Saxophone". He explored innovative uses of other electronics, contemporary recording styles & production as well as developing his now unique composing styles & concepts. He was one of the first Artists exploring electronics & "jazz-rock fusion". "BLOWIN' GOLD" followed with numerous other Innovative "Jazz/Rock Fusion Recordings" for Cadet/Chess Records. He then moved to now legendary Impulse! Records returning to more traditional yet experimental jazz styles for a brief time & then moving back to more "jazz/rock fusion" explorations. All contained beautiful ballads that were the roots of his yet to come landmark style & hit "TOUCH" recordings which John would permanently adopt.

His new location in L.A., at the height of the "Rock Explosion", exposed him to the then exploding music of the late 60's & early 70's on concerts with Janis Joplin & local L.A. Rock groups & musicians such as Tim Buckley etc. He incorporated these new styles etc. in his recordings for Cadet Concept/Chess & Impulse! Records, constantly breaking new ground, broadening& increasing his critical interest & fan base. "I believe that I most likely moved to fast in changing musical directions not affording people to absorb what I was doing at the time before moving on & changing again", John explains. "There has been some confusion as to "who & what John Klemmer is", John goes on. "I seem to be different things to different people based upon which "period" of my music they are both aware of & prefer", John concludes. But John was to refine himself & his music by what he calls; "Truly finding myself as an Artist as well as a person etc." with his "TOUCH" series of recordings.
