Lakshmi Shankar at Queen Elizabeth Hall

Friday 12 May 2006, Lakshmi Shankar (vocal) will perform at Queen Elizabeth Hall, London. Lakshmi Shankar, the doyenne of classical, light classical and devotional North Indian vocal music, gives a rare London performance to mark her 80th birthday. Her mellifluous voice continues to captivate audiences throughout the world, especially in Europe and North America. In this concert she presents music from her wide-ranging repertoire, including items based on rare ragas and compositions created by her brother-in-law and mentor, the legendary Ravi Shankar.

On the same night, Navras Records is releasing a special 80th birthday album based on ragas and compositions created by Ravi Shankar, performed by Lakshmi Shankar.
