3rd Annual Chili Pepper & Brew Fest

Snowmass Village announced a line-up of music for the 3rd Annual Chili Pepper & Brew Fest June 9-11, 2006, that includes jazz group Medeski, Martin & Wood and wunderkind rock star Jonny Lang in his first Colorado appearance of the summer.

Medeski, Martin & Wood heats up the night on Friday, June 9. This popular group effortlessly straddles the gap between avant-garde improvisation and accessible groove-based jazz. The Wood Brothers, who open for Medeski, Martin & Wood, features MMW member Chris Wood and his brother Oliver, who combine their divergent music styles to create a rootsy Americana feel that blends blues, folk, and rock music. This is a rare opportunity to catch this up-and-coming guitar/bass duo in concert.

Phenom Jonny Lang headlines Saturday night. His vocal career began at age 13 and by 19 he'd garnered a Grammy nomination and two platinum albums. Twenty-two-year-old Lang's long-awaited new album will be released this fall, and Snowmass will be the first Colorado venue where fans can hear Lang's passionate new rock & soul music live in concert.

Opening for Lang is Trevor Hall, a talented young singer/songwriter who masterfully weaves folk, hip-hop, and reggae influences into a rootsy acoustic-centered style. Sean Costello, another up-and-coming musician performs Saturday afternoon promising a remarkably mature grasp of Chicago blues shaped by soul, rock, funk, jazz and gospel influences. On Sunday, local six-piece band Waste Deep performs improvisational solos and funky beats.

"From Leftover Salmon in year one to Keller Williams and Michael Franti & Spearhead last year to this level of performers in 2006 shows an amazing progression of talent and a true dedication to bringing spectacular music to Snowmass for a reasonable price, " says Event Director Josh Behrman.
