They received 2006 JUNO Awards

Thirty-two awards were handed out April, 1 at the 2006 JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony In Halifax, Nova Scotia. Hosted by R & B diva Jully Black, the non-televised evening was an elegant affair held at the Halifax World Trade and Convention Centre and featured performances by 2006 JUNO Award nominees Kardinal Offishall, Martha Wainwright and The Road Hammers.

Highlights from the winners circle include double wins for Neil Young (Adult Alternative, Jack Richardson Producer of the Year), Nickelback (Group of the Year, Rock Album of the Year), Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra (Children's Album of the Year, Classical Album of the Year: Large Ensemble Or Soloist(s) With Large Ensemble Accompaniment) and The Tragically Hip (CD/DVD Artwork Design of the Year, Music DVD of the Year).

Other wins of the evening include: Alex Cuba Band (World Music Album of the Year), Daniel Powter (New Artist of the Year, sponsored by FACTOR), Dianna Krall (Vocal Jazz Album of the Year), Jane Bunnett (Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year), Michael Bublé (Pop Album of the Year), Shawn Desman (R&B/Soul Recording of the Year) and The Road Hammers (Country Recording of the Year). Founder of Canada's oldest independent record company, Bernie Finkelstein was honoured with the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award tonight. Instrumental in bringing Canadian music and artists to Canada and the world for over 35 years, True North Records founder Finkelstein received the award that recognizes individuals who have contributed to the growth and development of the Canadian music industry.
