| 35th Season in the Wolf Trap Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts announced the performance schedule for its 35th Anniversary Season. The season opens May 26, 2006, and boasts nearly 100 performances, including Face of America: Hawai'i, the fifth installment of Wolf Trap's original, artistic adventure series, makes its world premiere Saturday, Sept. 9, combining live performances by Halau O Kekuhi, Keali'i Reichel, and Ledward Kaapana with spectacular, larger-than-life high definition video projections of several Hawai'i National Parks and other settings throughout the islands. This world premiere reflects Wolf Trap's commitment to "celebrating our parks, our people, and our heritage" and the preservation of natural and cultural resources that is a tenet of the National Park community. In addition to Face of America: Hawai'i, Wolf Trap will present a world premiere by Ronald K. Brown/Evidence and Philadanco, two trailblazing African American modern dance companies that will share the stage in a passionate and powerful performance. This world premiere event is commissioned by Wolf Trap, choreographed by Ronald K. Brown, and pays homage to women around the world who paved their own path towards liberation. Additional performances in Wolf Trap's summer dance series include the Washington D.C.-area debuts of both the Trey McIntyre Project and Alonzo King's LINES Ballet. The Wolf Trap Opera Company, one of the country's most highly regarded residency programs for young professional singers, also celebrates its 35th anniversary season in 2006 and proudly presents three new productions this summer, including the American premiere of Telemann's Orpheus at The Barns at Wolf Trap. Rossini's Le Comte Ory also makes its Wolf Trap debut at The Barns; and the Company presents a new production on the Filene Center stage, the most family-friendly opera house in town, with two nights of The Marriage of Figaro, in celebration of Mozart's 250th birthday. In addition, the Company presents two full recitals at The Barns with the acclaimed Steven Blier of the New York Festival of Song and one collaborative concert of Gounod's Romeo et Juliette with the National Symphony Orchestra on the Filene Center Stage. For nine nights the world renowned National Symphony Orchestra once again takes up residency at the Filene Center, led by official NSO@Wolf Trap Festival Conductor, Maestro Emil de Cou. The Symphony will be joined by musical luminaries such as Itzhak Perlman, Renee Fleming, and Marvin Hamlisch and features family-friendly, accessible programs throughout the summer including Play! A Video Game Symphony by Final Fantasy game composer, Nobuo Uematsu; a presentation of the complete Wizard of Oz film and score; the celebrated music of Richard Rodgers; Orff's Carmina Burana; and music from Star Trek, Star Wars, and other science fiction films accompanied by stunning large-screen images from space and live narration by the one-and-only Leonard Nimoy. Additional highlights of Wolf Trap's 35th Anniversary Season include B.B.
