| Salute To The Giants Of Latin Jazz On Saturday, April 15, 2006, best modern Latin jazz musicians will perform in the concert, Sabado de Gloria: All Star Salute to the Giants Of Latin Jazz. The performance is in homage to the Afro-Caribbean jazz masters who have left this planet. Dave Valentin, Hilton Ruiz, Giovanni Hidalgo, Papo Vazquez, Sherman Irby, John Benitez, Dafnis Prieto and Anthony Carrillo will be joined on the stage with special guest Randy Brecker. The band will perform new arrangements to classic Latin jazz tunes and music composed with this evening in mind. The event will be held at the new, state of the art performance venue, the Kumble Theater for the Perfoming Arts at Long Island University's Brooklyn campus, located at One University Place near Flatbush Avenue in downtown MetroTech Brooklyn. This all star salute to the Afro-Caribbean jazz masters is part of the 7th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival. The concert will benefit the not for profit Brooklyn arts organization, the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium. Holy Saturday, April 15, the day before Easter Sunday is also known as Sabado de Gloria on the Latin religious calendar.
