| ‘The Lost Elephant Ball’ Lost Vagueness is returning to The Coronet music hall at Elephant and Castle, London, on Saturday 6 May to launch its 2006 schedule with ‘The Lost Elephant Ball’ - a spring spectacular of musical mayhem, carnal cabaret, masked mystique and a twist of temptation, headlined by the Cuban Brothers. The programme of entertainment features: the Cuban Brothers with their ‘naked break beat / Latin disco’ spectacular; DJ Shantel, the BBC ‘Award Winner for World Music 2006’ hailing from Germany’s popular Bucovonia Club; Backini (swing dance remix); Super Thriller (one of the Evening Standard ‘Album of the Year’ winners 2005); Twilight Players (Asian breakdance); Noisettes (tbc); DJ Gaz Mayall of Gaz’s Rocking Blues fame; The Laundrettas Pamper Parlour, burlesque cabaret; raunchy trapeze; Morris (pole) dancers; walkabouts by colourful Vagueness characters; a musical blend of ska, swing, polka, stomp… and more. The Lost Elephant Ball – the first in a series of decadent evenings to be hosted by Lost Vagueness at the Coronet throughout 2006 - is the launch of Vagueness’ residency at this venue: a hidden jewel in the urban Elephant and Castle crown. Vagueness will be teaming up with other renowned party organisers for theme nights and seasonal specials which will take its line up to new and diverse audiences. Roy Gurvitz, founder of Lost Vagueness, comments: “The Coronet is the ideal venue for Lost Vagueness’ residency. It might look unassuming from the outside but, on the inside, it’s a sumptuous, secret world with lavish art deco and a history of up-and-coming entertainment from the likes of Charlie Chaplin.” He adds: “The idea is to give each event a fresh, tailor-made feel. There are so many excellent party concepts out there; we want to incorporate more of them into our already strong show, creating an eclectic extravaganza of regular events at the Elephant.” The Cuban Brothers mix 70’s Havana with soulful, sexy tunes and Cuban mythology in a successful show strong on riotous comedy and sensational dancing. As well as touring Australia, New Zealand and the UK to promote their debut double CD, ‘The A-Z of Cuban Brothers’, the hard-working bros have presented various music specials for MTV and are recording a pilot show for the channel. They come from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
