| Sydney Duo Band Revitalize Romantic French And Spanish Music Duo Viva are the founders of Viva the band, The perform romantic French and Spanish music blending with a mix of: jazz, swing, latin, gypsy jazz, salsa, and classic show tunes. The combination of the sounds of musette accordion (with attached bass) and Spanish guitar provide a distinctive continental or “French” ambiance? Viva the band have appeared a many “French” themed venues such as food and wine promotions at Manly and the Hunter Valley, The Yalumba Jazz Festival at Thredbo where they performed to very appreciative audiences at the Credo restaurant, the Terrace restaurant and the Eagles Nest restaurant. Other French themed venues included performances at a “Moulin Rouge” themed party at Tumbalong Ballroom, “The Miss World Butterfly Ball” at Four Point by Sheraton at Darling Harbour, “Discovery After Dark” at the Australian Maritime Museum the Royal Easter Show, Jazz in the City at QVB, plus French themed events at Wollongong and Newcastle. The band also performed in Taiwan in 2004 and 2005 where they showcased their French styled sounds at a series of concerts and television performances. Most of these venues involved a concert approach, it is only been a year since Duo Viva decided to promote the idea of catering to diners. This was brought about as it became apparent that Viva the band was enjoying great popularity with French themed concerts at venues for major events, however very few dining establishments could find this style of music with an affordable duo for their general trading. It appeared that there were very few “quiet” or “romantic” duos other than pianos, pre-recorded or artificially produced sequenced music. Historically, romantic music was common in restaurants throughout the world, however in the last 30 years it seems there has been a major decline it the number of musicians performing this style of music, consequently, restaurants have found it increasingly difficult to employ musicians. Now it seems, that when Duo Viva perform, audiences are delighted they can experience live romantic music that they had only heard in that style in classic movies. The next “dining” venue Duo Viva are performing at is for a special night at Bella Chara Boutique Hotel at 1 Fern Street, Gerringong, south of Sydney NSW. The hotel will be serving fine food and wine with Duo Viva providing live music between 5pm and 8pm on Sunday the 12th March. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
