XM Satellite Radio Choice

XM Canada, the number one satellite radio service for new, emerging and recently established Canadian artists, presents the XM Satellite Radio Favourite Album and XM Satellite Radio Favourite Francophone Artist/Group at the 6th Annual Canadian Independent Music Awards on March 1 in Toronto, the kick-off for Canadian Music Week.

Nominees for the XM Satellite Radio Favourite Album are The Arcade Fire - Funeral; Broken Social Scene - Broken Social Scene; The New Pornographers - Twin Cinema; Theory of a Deadman - Gasoline; and Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary. Nominees for the XM Satellite Radio Favourite Francophone Artist/Group are Dany Bedar; France D'Amour; Boom Desjardins; Eric Lapointe and Annie Villeneuve.

All nominees of the XM Satellite Radio title awards are played on XMSatellite Radio and enjoyed by millions of music fans across North America. As the exclusive satellite radio broadcaster of the 2006 Indies, XM Canada invites music fans who are unable to attend the show in Toronto to enjoy all the award presentations and performances during an upcoming exclusive rebroadcast on XM 52, XM Canada's channel for new and emerging Canadian talent.

"During Canadian Music Week, we are recording a number of independent artists at our state-of-the-art Toronto studio including Cuff the Duke, Jeff Martin, Stabilo, Octoberman, The Fembots and Pilate, " said Cameron Carpenter, director, Canadian Talent Development, XM Canada. "We are also recording Matt Mays & El Torpedo, who were named XM Satellite Radio's Group of the Year at the East Coast Music Awards last night. XM Canada offers artists an opportunity to record original performances as well get airplay on XM Satellite Radio."
