| John Kay & Steppenwolf's DVD Releases John Kay, the legendary vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and founder of the classic rock band, Steppenwolf brings ‘John Kay & Friends’ a Black Hill Pictures live experience to be released by Warner Home Video on 8th May 2006. This two hour DVD was recorded in 2004 for a PBS special and sees the celebrated rocker Kay lend his voice and songwriting skills to a more private realm of folk, blues and rock tunes. The passion and idealism of youth, combined with the maturity and insight of years of musical experience, are all found within Kay’s thought-provoking songs. Classic Steppenwolf anthems from the 1960’s such as the heavy rock hit ‘Born To Be Wild’, immortalized in the 1969 counterculture flick Easy Rider, to ‘Endless Commercial’ taken from 2004’s Heretics And Privateers album are presented here in dts and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. The remarkable resilience of John Kay & Steppenwolf has never been more apparent than with the release of the Black Hill Pictures DVD ‘Live In Louisville’. Available in the UK from 8th May 2006 and released by Warner Home Video, ‘Live In Louisville’ shows why a revolutionary rock band that originated in the 1960’s continues to gain fans in the new millennium. John Kay may have mellowed with time, but as a band Steppenwolf are still every bit as rock ‘n’ roll as they ever were. While pyrotechnics light up the night, the legendary group creates fireworks of its own with a trademark sound that resonates through a crowd of loyal stalwarts and new young faces. This particular project is a Steppenwolf milestone because it features the band members with the longest tenure in the band’s 35 year history. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
