| Sandra Locklear to record March performances live Charismatic Seattle jazz performer Sandra Locklear and the Inner Circle Jazz Quartet will perform at Renton's Jubilante restaurant Wednesday, March 1 and Thursday, March 2 for a live CD recording. This powerhouse vocalist-pianist is earning a growing following with the stunning emotion that pours through her voice and her technical proficiency, honed since she took her first piano lesson at age 7. On March 1 and 2, Locklear's rich alto voice will be backed by topnotch local and national performing/recording artists Jack Klitzman on horns, Mike Barnett on bass and Steve Korn on drums. The show also features guest vocalist Jim Locklear. Audience members will be treated to an enlivening evening of familiar jazz standards performed with Locklear's inimitable shadings, refined over many years of playing venues in Europe, Canada, the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Locklear will also perform a few of her own original songs. Sandra Locklear's carefully chosen selections vary from playfully feisty to intensely passionate, and she easily shifts gears emotionally and stylistically as she moves from one song to another. Her work acknowledges the dark side of life while fiercely celebrating our struggle to survive and even thrive despite the obstacles. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
