| Ralph Towner will play in London Monday 3 April 2006 Ralph Towner will play in London's Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room. It will be a rare solo guitar concert from an acknowledged maestro. Ralph Towner transcends styles, drawing on jazz, contemporary classical music and an astonishing range of sources from throughout the world to create a soundscape that is entirely his own. Long associated with ECM Records, he has collaborated with Jan Garbarek, Gary Burton. Egberto Gismonti and Keith Jarrett, as well as being the lead composer, pianist and guitarist with the long-established acoustic group Oregon. Playing both classical and 12-string guitars, Towner is a mesmerising performer, creating shimmering and subtle layers of melodic and harmonic invention, often sounding 'like three musicians playing at once' (Mike Bradley, Times). write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
