| John Zorn's Acoustic Masada at Toronto Downtown Jazz Festival ![]() After a lengthy absence from Toronto, Zorn makes a triumphant return with his group, John Zorn's Acoustic Masada. Based on the idea of creating a new radical Jewish sound that would be relevant today, Zorn merged traditional Jewish scales with the sound of Ornette Coleman to create Masada. Joining Zorn will be Dave Douglas on trumpet, Greg Cohen on drums and Joey Baron on drums. The TD Canada Trust Toronto Downtown Jazz Festival will be cookin' for 10 days this summer when it takes over the city from June 23 - July 2, 2006. Bringing all that jazz for the past two decades, the festival is celebrating its twentieth anniversary with more than 1500 musicians performing over 350 concerts at more than 40 locations across the city. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
