| Camarillo Art & Jazz Festival The city of Camarillo will be transformed into a jazz and art mecca during the three-day Camarillo Art & Jazz Festival, August 4-6, 2006. The festivities will take place at Studio Channel Islands, located on the campus of California State University Channel Islands, Old Town Camarillo, Camarillo's Constitution Park, and at the Camarillo House. Jazz saxophone legend and six-time Grammy winner, David Sanborn, will headline the opening evening of the Festival on Friday, August 4 at Studio Channel Islands. On Saturday, August 5, Old Town Camarillo features a Farmer's Market with jazz, juried Art Walk, and performances by Dixieland Jazz bands and other jazz musicians scattered throughout Old Town. A free jazz concert by the Rippingtons, featuring Russ Freeman, is on tap at Constitution Park in Camarillo Saturday evening, presented by the Camarillo Art Council. The Rippingtons' album, Moonlighting, has been voted as the number one most influential contemporary jazz album of all times by Jazziz Magazine. Studio Channel Islands also offers entertainment on Saturday including open artist studios, art exhibits, plus a Battle of the Jazz Bands.
