| Canadian Bluesman Darren Johnson Signs Major Record Deal Okotoks bluesman Darren Johnson has a marketing deal with Goose Records, a new record company tied to Nashville. He is expecting the deal to send him off on tour around the globe to perform his music. Johnson’s latest recording, “Hear Nor There”, is already being marketed, but the artist plans to head back into the studio this summer. Known for his sultry roots sound, “Here Nor There” features 10 original songs. Guitarist Tim Williams acted as producer and performs on the recording, along with Ron Casat (keyboards), Greg Carroll (bass), and Thom Moon (drums), and special guest Amos Garrett contributes bass harmonies. Previous recordings include an all original CD‚ “The Legend of Hank Gibbled”. Johnson will be hosting a concert in Okotoks on February 25th, joined by local blues greats Steve Pineo and Amos Garrett for a Night of Blues at the Okotoks Rotary Performing Arts Centre. A similar concert was held late last year and Johnson said he hopes to make the blues concert series a bi-annual event. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
