Lyle Lovett's New DVD With Randy Newman & Mark Isham

Black Hill Pictures in association with Warner Home Video will release Lyle Lovett - Soundstage the DVD on 24th April 2006. Backed by a 14 piece big band and a 25 piece orchestra Lovett performs a number of songs from his 2003 album Smile. An album of beautiful tracks culled from an eclectic cross-section of recent American cinema including, 'Summer Wind' (For The Love Of The Game) and the title track, 'Smile' (Hope Floats).

Lyle Lovett, fascinated by the innovative blend of country, rock and blues can pride himself on giving a certain edge and soul back to Country Music. Remaining refreshingly grounded even amid years of success and an enduring, significant and boldly original career, this thirteen track performance for the legendary PBS Soundstage show serves to illustrate why Lovett remains one of the most revered musicians of his time.

Lovett's minimalist style is combined with yet another legend, the celebrated West Coast singer-songwriter, Randy Newman. Together they perform the crowd pleaser 'You've Got A Friend In Me' (Toy Story) and moving 'I Think It's Going To Rain Today (Beaches). This first class stage combination is joined by the highly-praised Jazz and New-age Soloist Mark Isham's unique trumpet contribution.

Rounding off the show with a gospel set which includes some well-known classics and popular originals; Lovett performs his version of the Ray Charles song 'What I'd Say', and the bluesy 'I'm Gonna Wait'.
