Hot Jazz Night comes to York Theatre Royal

In February, banish those winter blues with a night of sensational music at York Theatre Royal with the unique experience that is the Pasadena Roof Orchestra. Join us in the heady days of the 1920s and 1930s when jazz was hot and swing was thrilling. The Pasadena Roof Orchestra are set to make a welcome return to the main stage at York Theatre Royal on Tuesday 21 February at 8pm. Celebrate the sounds of amongst others Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday, that boiled out of New Orleans, New York and 1920s Europe and enjoy an evening of toe-tapping fun and syncopated sophistication as trumpets growl, saxophones wail and the rhythm grabs you and doesn't let go!. With unforgettable melodies, and sophisticated yet heart-wrenchingly romantic lyrics of the great entertainers this will be a night not to be missed.

Established in 1969 by John Arthy, the Orchestra has been entertaining audiences for years. Travelling all around the world, from London to Berlin, Istanbul to Hong Kong, it's been spreading its unique style of music to a whole new generation of music lovers. Not only has The Pasadena Roof Orchestra been bringing music to young audiences but it is also bringing to the music new generations of musicians who have been practising their craft and studying jazz at the top conservatories. This group is truly as legendary in its own right as the bands from the past, which it emulates! With 10 multi-talented musicians and 2 sensational singers, Duncan Galloway and Louise Cookman.
