Cross Canada Tour

The Canada's best new bands will be rocking eight cities as CBC Radio 3 and Bande à part present a cross-Canada tour of emerging musical talent. Twenty-seven bands showcasing the best in French and English indie music will perform in eight Canadian cities between February 23 and March 11, 2006.

The tour kicks off on February 23 in Charlottetown as part of the East Coast Music Awards, followed by shows in Moncton, Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg and Edmonton. The tour will wrap on March 11 at The Lamplighter in Vancouver. Each concert will feature a fresh line-up of bands local to the area.

"It's thrilling to put together such a strong line-up of English and French artists on the same bill in eight Canadian cities. CBC Radio 3 is all about the discovery of new Canadian music, and this cross-country tour will allow our primarily English audience to hear the best French acts with Bande à part, and vice versa, " said Steve Pratt, Director of CBC Radio 3. "Both Anglo and French music scenes are pouring into each other more than ever. Take Malajube or Broken Social Scene, for example. With this national tour, we wish to blur these frontiers a bit more. The aesthetic diversity of today's artists takes the project beyond all language barriers to an appreciation of the music itself, " said Hugues Sweeney, program manager of Bande à part.

Montreal based Bande à part host and music junkie Alexandre Courteaualong with Vancouver hip hop radio host Lauren Burrows will travel with the new music tour as it hits all eight cities.
