| Lorraine Feather's New CD Singer/lyricist Lorraine Feather will be recording her new album project Traffic and Weather in February and March of 2006. Feather has received considerable critical acclaim over the past five years for her unusual releases, which have featured a combination of classic jazz instrumentals with her added lyrics (Fats Waller's music on New York City Drag, Rhombus; Duke Ellington's on Such Sweet Thunder, Sanctuary) and all-new songs. Her 2005 CD Dooji Wooji included original songs written with Russell Ferrante, Shelly Berg, Bill Elliott and Eddie Arkin, also four revamped Ellington pieces. Dooji Wooji was named as one of the top 10 vocal albums of the year by Jazz Times, and one of the top 5 by All About Jazz New York. Traffic and Weather will be entirely composed of new material created with Feather's longtime co-writers. The project will also feature Tierney Sutton as a guest vocalist on one track, and The Manhattan Transfer's Janis Siegel and Cheryl Bentyne on two. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
