| For Ella: A musical Tribute to the legendary Ella Fitzgerald by Theresa Diorio On Friday, February 10th, 2006 Patti Austin & the Count Basie Orchestra will perform a benefit concert: For Ella: A Musical Tribute to the Legendary Ella Fitzgerald at Carnegie Hall. The proceeds will go to Building with Books and the New York Therapeutic Riding Centers. The Whiteweld Foundation Concert Series, promoting the health, education, and welfare of children through out the world. With Ella Fitzgerald’s groundbreaking work so intimately linked to her collaborations with Count Basie, it’s only natural that the For Ella concert feature the ultra-swinging Count Basie Orchestra. Their unique sound, combining blues and swing with an intensity and rhythm all their own, is and always has been, immediately recognizable.
