| Delta Music Experience brings New Orleans to the Northwest Delta Music Experience and The American West Steamboat Company have teamed up to bring New Orleans’ Mardi Gras to the Northwest with a cruise on the Columbia River the weekend of March 18-21, 2006. Guests will experience the unique Big Easy beat with the picturesque Pacific Northwest scenery as they cruise the Columbia River aboard the casually elegant, authentic paddlewheeler, Queen of the West. The excursion will travel roundtrip from Portland visiting the Willamette River, the Multnomah Channel, Bonneville Dam, Multnomah Falls and Astoria. Over the four days, the following musicians and artists will entertain New Orleans style: * Charles Neville of the Neville Brothers - Charles' diverse musical background includes rhythm & blues, funk, jazz, be-bop, popular and American Indian music. * Ann Rabson from the Uppity Blues Women - A diversely talented "Music Makin' Mama", Ann is best known as a boogie-woogie pianist. Her New Orleans set will give those dancing shoes a workout. * Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band - Undeniably "The World's Premier Zydeco Showman." Chubby will provide the ultimate "Big Easy" Mardi Gras celebration. * Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews and Orleans Ave - Troy's band seamlessly blends blues, jazz, funk, R&B, and brass band into one vibrant uniquely New Orleans sound. * Charmaine Neville and Amasa Miller - Born into the third generation of the New Orleans legendary musical family, Charmaine performs blues, jazz, funk, R&B, rock and World Beat with astonishing range. * Doyle Bramhall – His soulful voice, and heart-pumping drum work is a powerful summation of all the music this Texas singer-drummer-songwriter has spent his life playing. * Michael "Hawkeye" Herman - A music scholar, who exemplifies the range of possibilities in acoustic blues, and personifies versatile musicianship, originality, and compelling artistry as a blues storyteller. * Dick Waterman - Photographer extraordinaire and author of B.B. King’s recently published biography. * The solo/duo acoustic winner of the 2006 International Blues Challenge. Delta Music Experience’s intimate size offers the opportunity to connect with the musicians, spend time with friends and family and forge new friendships aboard this extraordinary musical journey that is the only one of it’s kind. The riverboat’s warm, casual elegance makes it easy for guests to mingle with artists while relaxing in the lounge, socializing at the bar, dining, or enjoying stunning vistas off the deck.
