| UCLA Live Presents Alice Coltrane UCLA Live Presents Alice Coltrane, alongside Ravi Coltrane, Reggie Workman, Reggie Workman, Jeff “Tain” Watts, and featuring Dwight Trible and his Quintet Saturaday, February 18 at Royce Hall . A great instrumentalist and bandleader in her own right, the pianist and wife of the late jazz master John Coltrane recently released her first album in 26 years. Continuing her husband's investigations of Eastern music, Translinear Light showcases the “undiminished brio that Coltrane brings to the keyboard” [The New Yorker] particularly her ethereal Wurlitzer organ and synthesizer playing. In this world premiere event, Coltrane performs with her sons Ravi and Oran.
