Jazz Jam’ at Grundy Park, UK

The nearest ‘Jazz Jam’ is taking place at Grundy Park Leisure Centre’s Strikers Bar, on Friday 20 January. The ‘Jazz Jam’ is a free night of live jazz music which gives musicians the chance to bring their instruments and perform to the audience on the night.

The ‘Jazz Jam’ night has a back-up band, consisting of a drummer, bass player and a pianist, that play a jazz set for the first part of the evening. During this part, musicians that want to play can register to perform. After the interval, the back-up band invites other musicians onto the stage to play along with them.

The ‘Jazz Jams’ are supported by the Council as part of an effort to bring more arts entertainment to the borough. They give local musicians the opportunity to perform for an audience, and meet other jazz musicians. The ‘Jazz Jams’ also give members of the public a chance to experience live music in a relaxed and informal setting. The last audience at ‘Jazz Jam’ was a mixture of people who had been to previous sessions and those who were attending for the first time.

‘Jazz Jams’ take place on the third Friday of each month, with the following session taking place on 17 February.
