Chick Corea & Touchstone in the Queen Elizabeth Hall

This special concert on Thursday 19 January 2006 is a rare opportunity to hear in London 'unquestionably one of the most improvisationally fluent and technically commanding jazz pianists ever' (Guardian) with his new band, Touchstone, in their only European date. Heard in this country only once before, at a sell-out Barbican event, Touchstone reflects Corea's longstanding fascination with the rhythms and sounds of Spain. It features saxophonist Jorge Pardo and percussionist Rubem Dantas (both stalwarts of Paco de Lucia's band), flamenco-inspired bassist Carles Benavent and drummer Tom Brechtlein.

Since the 1960s, Corea has been at the epicentre of jazz, whether experimenting with fusion in the early Miles Davis bands and his own Return to Forever, or through post-bop explorations and a series of landmark duets with the likes of Herbie Hancock and Bobby McFerrin.
