| Nathan Haines All Stars Summer Tour This summer, Nathan Haines is treating his New Zealand fans to a phenomenal live musical experience. Joining him direct from the UK, Vanessa Freeman and Mike Patto will be performing alongside some of Aotearoa’s finest artists. Mike Patto, the man behind UK band Reel People (recently signed to Defected Records in the US and one of the hottest live dance acts at the Miami Music Conference this year) will join the incredible vocal talents of Vanessa Freeman, who released a solo album Shades on Chillifunk records last year to critical acclaim, is one of the soulful dance scene’s most recognisable voices. Nathan says “Myself, Vanessa and Mike have been close friends and worked on many projects together over the last several years in London…I think the live show will reflect this. We will all play some of our best known tunes, and as I’m working on another album for Chillifunk due out mid 2006, we will be airing some new album tracks." Nathan, Mike and Vanessa have performed together in Japan (Blue Note Tokyo), Russia (St Petersburg Nu Jazz Festival) and at the home of quality UK dance music, the Southport Weekender, as well as several performances at London’s Jazz Cafe. This live show will be a coming together of these three friends with an incredible band of New Zealand talent including drummer Riki Gooch (Trinity Roots and Recloose), vocalist Tama Waipara, and Puerto Rican born percussionist Miguel Fuentes (Grover Washington, Freddie Hubbard and Patti Labelle). Recently Nathan has been touring and promoting his latest album Life TIme featuring the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, which showcases his true jazz and vocal talents. However it’s to the funk Nathan always returns. Nathan’s shows will guarantee every booty in the house will be shaking, and with the incredibly passionate, soaring vocals of Vanessa Freeman, these shows will be a highlight of the summer for lovers of live, danceable funk. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
