| Kat Jiménez Seeks Management The extraordinary independent music artist, Kat Jiménez, has just released her first album, “Nothin’ but Love” and already, her CD sales are soaring. She’s also got a few gigs lined up over the next few months, including her next show at the Key Club’s Plush Lounge on January 13th. Not bad for a singer/songwriter who’s doing it all on her own, from booking her gigs, to releasing her CD, and to getting it distributed on online avenues such as Tower Records and Amazon. “I’ve had a few managers approach me or even just really supportive friends and family members who are willing to work for me, but I’m not just going to hire anyone. I need someone who can take me to the next level beyond what I can do for myself” say Kat Jiménez, who is determined to get signed on to a major label by the end of this year. Jiménez is very dedicated to paving the way not only for herself, but for Asian-American musicians who are struggling to get their music heard on mainstream radio, retails stores and online outlets. “There are so many talented Asian musicians out there who are taking new approaches to pop, jazz, hip hop, and world music, yet you never hear about them. Robert Tom, who is Chinese/European, is revitalizing jazz standards. Marié Digby, is an amazing singer/songwriter with a Japanese-Irish background, ” according to the independent artist. Then there is Kat Jiménez with her oh so powerful voice and music, all at 5’3. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Jazz News :: home page |
