| To Select 2007 MENC All-Northwest Honor Groups The National Association for Music Education will once again host the 2007 MENC All-Northwest Honor Groups as part of the 40th Northwest Division Biennial In-Service Conference, February 16-18, 2007, to be held in Portland, Oregon at the Oregon Convention Center. The MENC All-Northwest Honor Groups will consist of a concert band, symphony orchestra, mixed choir, women’s choir, jazz band, and jazz choir. The concert band and symphony orchestra will have approximately two hundred instrumentalists each; the jazz band will have eighteen instrumentalists; and the mixed, women’s, and jazz choirs combined will have approximately 500 vocalists. Student participation from each state is determined by percentage of the total MENC Northwest Division membership. The Honor Groups conductors will be: Concert Band Anthony Maiello, George Mason University Symphony Orchestra Bridget-Michaele Reischl, Oberlin Conservatory of Music Mixed Choir Andre Thomas, Florida State University Women’s Choir Sigrid Johnson, St. Olaf College Jazz Band Ellen Rowe, The University of Michigan Jazz Choir Bruce Rogers, Mt. San Antonio College Student musicians of MENC members throughout the Northwest Division are invited to audition for the MENC All-Northwest Honor Groups. Audition Requirements are currently posted on the MENC website. Application materials will be posted beginning July 1, 2006 to be due to MENC at the beginning of October 2006. Adjudicators within each of the Northwest Division states (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Washington, Washington, Wyoming) will review the applicants and make their recommendations to division level adjudicators.
