"Music is the only true universal language with the power and spirit to bring people together. The Rhythm Road tour is a natural extension of our mission that brings jazz to as many people as possible in the name of universal friendship, " said Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Wynton Marsalis.

The touring ensembles will perform Latin jazz music in Latin America, Africa, Asia, Eurasia, Europe and the Balkans. The tours are designated for countries that are not often visited by American musicians to foster cross-cultural exchanges. In addition to public concerts, the visiting ensembles will conduct master classes, lecture-recitals, workshops, jam sessions, radio and TV appearances, arranged by Jazz at Lincoln Center and the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
