Hiroshima Jazz Band Booked for Fontana Event

Fontana City Councilwoman Acquanetta Warren announced today that veteran jazz band Hiroshima will be performing at a fundraising event at Sierra Lakes Golf Club on February 18th, 2006.

Councilwoman Warren created the event to highlight the cultural diversity of the area and also to recognize and celebrate the February as Black History Month. Money raised from the event will be donated to The Chaffey College Foundation, the fundraising arm of Chaffey College, a local community college. Warren says she hopes to raise over $50, 000.00 for the foundation.

“After seeing and hearing this group, I thought what a great way to celebrate the diversity of our area.” says Warren. “The music really appeals to everyone. We had some initial sponsors that stepped up to the plate, and I was elated when we were able to confirm the booking with the band.” Warren added.

The band is known for galvanizing the instrumental music world in the late 70’s with its unique East meets West approach. Hiroshima has always kept its eye on a distinctive “one world” philosophy which blends Asian and North American culture to reflect both cultural and spiritual connections.
