Soul Party at On Broadway

On Broadway presents four multi-talented and vibrant young singers – Chad Saaiman, Dane Paarman, Merlin McDonald & Lloyd Jansen - in soul party – a rocking good party show with all favourite soul songs and more, from 20 December 2005 to 7 January 2006.

“Soul music made its way North, East & West via the same train routes that carried rural Black workers from their homes in the south to the industrial north of the USA. As these "Blues people" made their way north, the music that they brought with them fused with the sophisticated urban sounds of jazz to create the sound first called 'race music' and then later referred to as 'rhythm & blues'. As this music known as R&B began to gain acceptance among whites, it became split artificially and became known as 'rock n’ roll' (for whites only) and "soul" (for Blacks only). Not only did the music influence all of the R&B and Rock of the '70s, '80s, and '90s, but frequently crossed over into the pop charts. The sound was joyous, uplifting and confident. Although soul music evolved, it never went away and as far as we are concerned it’s ALL Classic Soul!! Soul party will definitely be the party show to be at this festive season!

The wonderful voices, harmonies, and evergreen melodies are what set this genre of music apart from the rest. The show is produced by Russell Shapiro, directed by Glenn Swart, with choreography by Deon Bisschoff.
