| Heritage Blues Festival honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Heritage Blues Festival Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On January 13-14, 2006 In Tallahassee Florida. The Heritage Blues Festival celebrates the colorful history of the blues and the rich heritage of the grounds the festival is held on. This property has been in the Henry family for many generations and has been the site of the annual Emancipation Day Celebration. The bonfire under the live oaks has hosted musicians for decades and the Club served as an after hours gathering place for the famed Chitlin’ Circuit blues players. It is the perfect setting for a two day blues festival featuring many of the best blues acts in the region. The Festival provides an opportunity to be a part of this heritage and the celebration of the freedoms for which the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood. The Festival has regularly drawn people from all over the tri-state area, with a wide variety of food and craft vendors, activities for the kids, and primitive camping and no-hookup RV areas. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Jazz News :: home page |
