Native American's Rhythm Poetry

Over the passed three years, Native American music artist Tactile The Rhymechild (Pueblo & Lakota) has been touring the US and Canada spreading his messages, thoughts, perspectives and ideas in the form of what he calls "Rhythm Poetry". What is Rhythm Poetry you ask? Rhythm Poetry is the combined poetic prose rhythmically mixed with the best elements in music.

"Quite simply... a song." Tactile says and further explains, "Today, Hiphop/Rap music has become a ploy, a fad, a marketing tool and is seldom taken seriously as a legitimate form of music. I know I risk a lot of perspectives by saying something like that... but that's reality. How else can you explain why corporate industries have yet to cater to the 25 to 40 somethings that grew up on Rap music? There's no classic Hiphop/Rap stations. There's no variety Hiphop/Rap stations. Yet, there's every flavor of rock, jazz, soul, classical, available across everyone's FM dials... and not only that, you can get 70's, 80's, 90's, and today of each. Where's our 80's or 90's Hiphop/Rap station? The industry seems to still hope that Hiphop/Rap is a phase that people grow out of. The fact is that Hiphop Rap music has been the most effective means for expressing true insight and discontent for what's really going on in todays society amongst the common folks. That threatens corporate industries so much, they confine it. So much so, that only Rap music which promotes some type of marketing is being made available to large audiences. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in anyway attempting to give up on Hiphop Culture by saying that my music isn't Hiphop, I'm just taking away their power to associate my music with what their raping Hiphop with. My music is definitely influenced by the Hiphop artists that came before me, just as it's influenced by the rock, classical, jazz, soul, blues, Native, and any other artists that proceeded me. Because I strive for my music to transcend what corporate America limits Hiphop/Rap to, I call my music Rhythm Poetry."

Tactile's debut cd "The Arrival EP" was nominated for best Hiphop CD at the 2005 Indian Summer Music Awards.
