Blues Foundation's "Best Self-Produced CD" Semi-Finalists

The Blues Foundation has announced that the "Best Self-Produced CD" has advanced to the final eight CDs. The 8 semi-finalists listed in order of the affiliated blues society that sponsored the CD are:

1. Atlanta Blues Society—Steamy: Heaven Davis
2. Connecticut Blues Society—Yeah Man!: Ryan Hartt & The Blue Hearts
3. Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation—Back in Bluesville: Roxy Perry
4. Louisiana Blues Preservation Society—About to Snap: Michael Juan Nunez
5. Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society—Live at the Corner Hotel: Ash Grunwald
6. Mid Mississippi Muddy Waters Blues Society—The Storm: Blue Voodoo
7. MO Blues Association—Wet My Beak: Alvin Jett and the Phat Noiz Blues Band
8. Reno Blues Society—Song Inside Me: Michele Lundeen

Congratulations to all the acts and thanks to the affiliates for bringing this great music to a wider audience.

They will be judged by the Round 2 judges Bob Porter, Blues Programmer, Music Choice, host of Portraits in Blue, NPR syndicated radio show in 25th year and host of Saturday Morning Function, WBGO Newark (8-10am at WBGO.org on the web); Dan Jacobsen, Publisher and Editor of Southland Blues--Southern California's Hub of the Blues; Larry Lisk, presenter of "Blues Lovers Edition" on community radio WMNF 88.5 FM, President of the Suncoast Blues Society, and agent for Skipper's Smokehouse Talent Agency, all in and around Tampa, FL; and Bill Wax, Program Director (which I think is short for Proprietor of Low-Fi's Bar and Pool Hall) for Bluesville, exit 74 on XM Satellite Radio.

The winner will be announced at the International Blues Challenge (IBC) finals Jan 28, 2006 in Memphis, TN, USA. More info at www.blues.org.
